A note from Fr. Lappe:
Ever since I have come to Our Lady Star of the Sea I have had a desire to offer something great to our Young Adults in the parish to give them the opportunity to be strengthened in their relationship with the Lord and to offer them the opportunity to develop a solid and vibrant spiritual life.
The words of St. John Paul II are very compelling in terms of our mission as a parish:
dear brothers and sisters, our Christian communities must become genuine “schools” of prayer, where the meeting with Christ is expressed not just in imploring help but also in thanksgiving, praise, adoration, contemplation, listening and ardent devotion, until the heart truly “falls in love”…by opening our heart to the love of God it also opens it to the love of our brothers and sisters, and makes us capable of shaping history according to God’s plan.
I know it is really difficult to live a life of faith in our modern world.
Many people give up on the “practice” of the faith because they don’t really get anything out of it or it doesn’t really seem to be working – and I honestly think that is pretty understandable.
