CATHOLIC FAITH
A CHRIST CENTERED EDUCATION
Our school community is centered around the Eucharist of our Lord. We desire our students to become saints and therefore we require weekly attendance at Holy Mass and regular encouragement of the Sacraments. Our school lives the liturgical year with the Church, celebrating feast days and teaching students to live a life centered around Christ.
​We are one of only a small number of schools in the country that have Dominican Sisters as teachers, and in addition to teaching subjects such as history and literature, they teach all of our theology classes. We use archdiocesan-approved religion textbooks to teach the religion curriculum of the Seattle Archdiocese. The current curriculum is Spirit of Truth by Sophia Institute and is supplemented by Theology of the Body from the Ruah Woods Institute. Students also have access to Bibles and frequently refer to Scripture as part of their daily religious instruction. Teachers supplement instruction with a variety of resources, such as religious movies, art projects, and stories of the saints. The seventh and eighth graders take part in the March for Life each year at the State Capital in Olympia.
LITURGY
All students and staff attend Mass each Friday and on holy days at 9:00 AM. Grades four through eight rotate responsibility for the readings, intercessions, and bringing up the gifts.
SERVICE
Boys from fourth through eighth grade are altar servers. The school choir sings at the Friday Mass and some funerals. Members are also cantors. Girls in the eighth grade are trained to be sacristans.
SACRAMENTS
Sacramental preparation (grade 2) is provided by the parish and reinforced in the second grade classroom.

Daily prayer is an important part of the school routine.. Students begin and end the day with prayer in their classrooms.
OUR ADORATION CHAPEL
In 2018, Our Lady Star of the Sea School set out to be Christ-centered in a new and meaningful way. Parishioners and school families raised money to transform the former resource room into a beautiful Adoration Chapel. Students and faculty have the opportunity to visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament within the school itself throughout the day.
LIVING SAINTS MUSEUM
OLSOS school has a tradition of putting on a "Living Saints Museum" for the parents and people of the parish.
In celebration of All Saints day, students are assigned a saint to study. They craft an engaging written explanation of their saint. Students then dress up as their saint and give a presentation on their life and journey to sainthood.
