– Tune in to the Ordination of Deacons December 19 at 10:00AM –

Archbishop Paul D. Etienne will ordain 21 men to the permanent diaconate, including Jim Johnson from Our Lady Star of the Sea Parish! This will be the first class of permanent deacons ordained for the archdiocese since 2012. The discernment process for this class began in 2015.

About Jim Johnson

My name is Jim Johnson and I was born and raised in St. Paul, MN. I joined the Air Force in 1985 and was eventually stationed in Hawaii at Hickam AFB. I met me wife in March of 1986 and we were married in Nov of the same year. We have lived in several states since then, but have called Our Lady Star of the Sea home, since May of 2001.

We live in Seabeck, WA where we raised 3 children. Our son Aaron and daughters Lauren and Elise. All of them our grown now and married and we have since added 3 grandchildren as well; Lenox, Casten and Alder.

I have enjoyed a lot of sports over the years; playing, coaching and just watching. I have played baseball, football, hockey, golf and soccer and coached our sone Aaron in baseball for about 15 years. Colleen and I now enjoy a casual round of golf from time to time, but really enjoy heading east of the mountain for some relaxing wine tasting in the sun. We have also been blessed with some opportunity to travel and to see places that have helped us grow in our faith. We have been to Rome and many other parts of Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, Turkey, Greece and the Holy Lands in Israel. God is good!

I have been serving in prison ministry at Mission Creek Correctional Facility since 2017 and have enjoyed this immensely. I wish to continue serving in this capacity for many years to come, but I also hope to start preparations to become a spiritual director. I have felt this call for many years now and truly believe in the healing power of this ministry. By Gods grace, I hope to be able to pursue this formation.
