SUMMARY:Good Friday
DESCRIPTION:In addition to abstaining from meat\, Catholics from age 18-59 fast this day (limit themselves to one full meal and two smaller meals).  \nOLSOS & HT Schedule:\nNo Mass  \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n Noon-3:00 PM  | Confessions and Tre-Ore Service |  Star of the Sea“The Three Hours of Agony” or Tre Ore is a liturgical service held on Good Friday from noon until 3 o’clock to commemorate the Passion of Christ. Specifically\, it refers to the three hours that Jesus hung on the Cross and includes a series of homilies on the seven last words spoken by Christ. \n \n \n \n \n \n 3:00 PM  | Stations of the Cross | Star of the Sea & Holy TrinityThe Stations of the Cross\, also known as the Way of the Cross or Via Crucis\, commemorate Jesus’s passion and death on the cross. There are 14 stations that each depict a moment on his journey to Calvary\, usually through sacred art\, prayers\, and reflections. \nThe practice began as pious pilgrims traced his path through Jerusalem on the Via Dolorosa. Many who wanted to pass along the same route\, but could not make the trip to Jerusalem\, developed what eventually took the form of the fourteen stations currently found in almost every church throughout the world. \n \n \n \n \n \n 3:30 PM  | Divine Mercy Novena begins | Star of the Sea & Holy Trinity “I desire that during these nine days you bring souls to the fountain of My mercy\, that they may draw therefrom strength and refreshment and whatever grace they have need of in the hardships of life\, and especially at the hour of death” (Diary of St. Faustina\, 1209). \nPrayed on ordinary rosary beads\, The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy is an intercessory prayer that extends the offering of the Eucharist\, so it is especially appropriate to use it after having received Holy Communion at Holy Mass. \n \n \n \n \n \n 7:00 PM  | Liturgy of the Passion of the Lord | Star of the Sea & Holy Trinity (bilingual) \n\n\n\nThe Good Friday liturgy commemorates the Passion of Christ. During the liturgy\, the faithfull will come forward to venerate a crucifix\, recalling Christ’s death for our salvation. The tradition dates back to the late 4th century when\, according to legend\, St. Helena\, the mother of Constantine\, discovered the true cross in Jerusalem.  \n\n\n\n
