Ministry for the Aging and Infirm
With the approval of Father Lappe, under the spiritual direction of Deacon Bill Hamlin, Our Lady Star of the Sea has formed a Ministry for the aging and infirm.
For the past several months the committee has researched and determined that there is a need for Catholic-centered care among our aging Catholic population. This includes not just those in our combined Star and Holy Trinity parishes, but other senior Catholics in Kitsap County as well.
The ministry’s ultimate goal envisions a spectrum of caring for the physical and spiritual needs of seniors, while at the same time providing care for their caregivers. While our long-term plan is far reaching, the committee will soon begin providing a once-a-week socially interactive daytime and lunch gathering for this population. We will eventually expand participation to Holy Trinity and other Catholics within Kitsap County.
