Dear Parishioners at Our Lady Star of the Sea,
As the days of my stay approach the end, I wish to express my sincere and inner-felt thanks and gratitude to you all as a parish community, for the invitation through your Pastor Rev. Fr. Lappe Derek, for reception and accommodating me all the days since I visited here for my first time in America, the land of varieties -–people, food, features, seasons, cars, cities, streets; you name it!
The area is a beautiful flower!
I felt blessed to be here.   To the families that hosted me, the school children, individuals, different mission groups and the entire parish family, thanks for your goodness. You made me feel at home, with a strong sense of belonging. May God keep you and bless you abundantly.
As I prepare to leave, I feel missing you. I promise you my love and prayers. I ask you the same. I shall convey your love and greetings to the Sister parish, Mary Mother of the Church, Kabale Diocese, Uganda (EA). May the good Lord keep us together in Love and Faith.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Rev. Fr. Reuben Mabangizi[/vc_column_text][vc_separator][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

OpenBook2Books For Fr. Reuben

In talking with Fr. Reuben about the various needs of his parishioners at our Sister Parish we identified one item which would be very easy for us to help him with. In Uganda they don’t have all of the resources that we have in terms of books and materials that explain and teach the Catholic faith in a clear and modern way. We take for granted having, besides the internet, so many resources and written materials that help us to know and defend our faith.
With so few priests, relative to the area and number of people in Uganda, they have to depend upon lay catechists who would benefit greatly from a deeper understanding of the faith and a better ability to defend the faith against the various protestant sects.
Most of us have lots of books by authors like Scott Hahn and Peter Kreeft and Mark Shea, or lots of other books on apologetics that we’ve read, and now sit on our bookshelves. It would be great to pass them on to those who could really use them. What I would like to do is start collecting books like these so that we can send these valuable resources over to our brothers and sisters in our Sister Parish.
There will be a box in the back of the Church, by the welcome center where we can collect the books, as well as dropping them off at the parish office.  Thank you for your generosity and thank you again for the very warm welcome you gave to Fr. Reuben.
