This Lent, on Monday, March 14 through Thursday, March 17, Star of the Sea is pleased to have Fr. Timothy Gallagher visiting to give a Parish Mission. The talks will be focused on meditation and contemplation. This will be an excellent opportunity for all parishioners to deepen their understand of prayer, so mark your calendars!

Mission Talks on Prayer
Fr. Gallagher will be speaking on Meditation and Contemplation during his 4 talks. Here is a synopsis from his book, Meditation and Contemplation: An Ignatian Guide to Praying with Scripture, which should serve as a preview of the talks: The cornerstones of Ignatius of Loyola's spiritual practice, meditation and contemplation are clearly explained in this simple guide to the Ignatian method with examples from the experience of practitioners and quotations from Catholic spiritual teachers. In the process, the deeper structure of the spiritual practice is illuminated, and advice about adapting it to individual needs is offered. Topics include methods of praying, struggles and growth, and the importance and role of grace. Individuals who desire to pray with scripture, spiritual directors, and all who teach prayer with scripture will benefit from the counsel in this resource. If you’ve ever wondered how to pray. If you’ve ever thought that you weren’t good at praying. If you’ve ever gotten distracted when you pray. If you’ve ever gotten bored when you pray. If you’re waiting for a miracle. If you’re looking for a sign. If you want to hear God’s voice. If you want to see the face of Jesus. If you want to know God’s plan for your life.
This Mission is for you! Do not miss this opportunity to learn to pray. Fr. Lappe says, "I guarantee that Fr. Gallagher’s teaching on prayer will lead you to a deeper and closer relationship with God than you have ever imagined possible."
- Dates: Mon-Thurs, March 14-17
- Times: 7:00 PM Holy Hour & Mission Talk, followed by confessions until all are heard
