As we enter into November and December, I wanted to pass on some of the Liturgical and Musical Events that will occur here at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church:

Featuring the Junior Schola and guests singing Gregorian Propers

November 2nd, 2011 – 7PM
COMMEMERATION OF THE FAITHFUL DEPARTED (ALL SOULS)
Missa Cantata Requiem Mass in the Extraordinary Form (1962 Missal)
Featuring the Men of Schola Stella Maris and guests singing Gregorian Propers and Samuel Wesley’s “Si iniquitates”

November 4th, 2011 – 7PM
FEAST OF ST. CHARLES BORROMEO, BISHOP and FIRST FRIDAY
Solemn Vespers according to the Ordinary Form
Featuring the men of Schola Stella Maris singing Orlando di Lasso’s “Eripe Me”, Kevin Allen’s “Tantum Ergo” and plainsong Magnificat.

November 22nd, 2011 – 7PM
FEAST OF ST. CECILIA, PATRONESS OF MUSIC
Missa Cantata in the Extraordinary Form (1962 Missal)
Featuring Schola Stella Maris singing William Byrd’s “Mass for Four Voices”, Francisco Guerrero’s “Dum Aurora Finem” and Giovanni Nanino’s “Diffusa est Gratia”.

FIRST FRIDAY
Solemn Vespers according to the Ordinary Form
Featuring the women of Schola Stella Maris singing Maurice Durufle’s “Tota Pulchra es”, Giuseppe Tartini’s “Tantum Ergo” and plainsong Magnificat.

A FESTIVAL OF CAROLS
Featuring the Parish Choir singing C.H.H. Parry’s “Welcome Yule!”, David Wilcocks’ “Unto Us is Born a Son”, and Peter Warlock’s “Bethlehem Down”, and traditional carols

December 25th, 2011
SOLEMNITY OF THE NATIVITY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST – MASS AT MIDNIGHT
Solemn Sung Mass according to the Ordinary Form (2000 Missal)
Featuring the Parish Choir singing Tomas Luis de Victoria’s “O Magnum Mysterium”, Gregorian Propers, and traditional carols
