2nd Annual Our Lady Star of the Sea Corpus Christi Procession, on the Feast of the Most Holy Body and Blood
June 6 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, Bremerton, WA
In his Apostolic Letter Mane nobiscum Domine John Paul II particularly promoted the procession on Corpus Christi:
“This year let us also celebrate with particular devotion the Solemnity of Corpus Christi, with its traditional procession. Our faith in the God who took flesh in order to become our companion along the way needs to be everywhere proclaimed, especially in our streets and homes, as an expression of our grateful love and as an inexhaustible source of blessings."
The Corpus Christi Procession gives the Catholic believer a unique opportunity to proclaim their Eucharistic faith to the world. We believe that Jesus Christ is truly present among us through the Sacrament of the Eucharist, and thus during the procession we are showing that faith to the world. It also cannot but bring blessings to our community and to those who participate as we witness to our Eucharistic faith.
This Year’s Procession at Our Lady Star of the Sea
The procession will begin at Star at 1:00pm and go through the surrounding neighborhood to six designated stations. These will be in the front yards of homes belonging to local parish families where altars will be set up for benediction. The procession route will be about 1.25 mile long and should take approximately one and a half hours. It will conclude back at Star with a final blessing at the seventh altar. After the final blessing there will be a potluck with the Knights of Columbus providing hamburgers and hotdogs, much like the parish picnic. It will be a wonderful day of prayer and celebration in honor of the Most Blessed Sacrament. The procession will begin at 1:00 PM on Sunday June 6th, 2010 at Our Lady Star of the Sea, Bremerton, WA.
All are welcome to join us for this special event in honor of the Most Blessed Sacrament

Kimberly Daniels was busy watering her garden Sunday when hundreds of Catholics walked by her Veneta Avenue home.
She watched as altar boys holding a crucifix and candles first passed. Then tuxedoed Knights of Columbus bearing ceremonial swords. Then choir singers and small children dropping rose pedals into the street. The distinct smell of incense and the sounds of songs followed as families passed by.
Daniels noted with interest the different and colorful wardrobes that passed, and was impressed with all the "different ages" of those who'd walked.
Little did she know that she'd witnessed the city's first-ever "Corpus Christi" procession, a Catholic tradition that brought hundreds out to walk a 1½-mile path around neighborhoods in West Bremerton. The procession was organized by Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.
