You may recall the book which was given to parishioners who participated in last year's Annual Catholic Appeal. It was Deep Conversion, Deep Prayer, by Fr. Thomas Dubay -- one of Fr. Lappe's favorite books. Fr. Dubay passed away over the weekend. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.

Father Thomas Dubay, the famed retreat master and spiritual director, died on September 26. Ordained in 1950, the Marist priest wrote several books on the spiritual life, including Fire Within: St. Teresa of Avila, St. John of the Cross and the Gospel on Prayer and Happy Are the Poor: The Simple Life and Spiritual Freedom. The Little Sisters of the Poor cared for him during the last year of his life.
