WA State Victory for Conscience

Pro-life blogger, Jill Stanek, has the story about how the Washington State Board of Pharmacy has reversed its rule which forces pharmacies and pharmacists to dispense emergency contraceptives/abortifacients, regardless of their moral convictions. The Board of Pharmacy was set to go to trial on July 26, 2010 after a pharmacy and two pharmacists promptly filed suit in 2007 after the Board issued the new rule. But, before the case could go to trial, the Board announced it would change the rules back.

This is a true victory for freedom of conscience! The Catechism of the Catholic Church states,

Man has the right to act in conscience and in freedom so as personally to make moral decisions. "He must not be forced to act contrary to his conscience. Nor must he be prevented from acting according to his conscience, especially in religious matters." CCC 1782
