Written by Andrew
Wednesday, 07 April 2010 14:57
The Wednesday Night Talks will continue as part of our Catholics Come Home campaign. There are lots of great speakers and talks to look forward to, so mark your calendars! As always, they will be from 7:00—8:30 PM in Camerman Hall, following the 5:00—6:00 PM Confessions and 6:00—7:00 PM Holy Hour in the Church.

Wednesday Night Talks

April 7, with Fr. Peter West from Priests for Life
The Consistent Pro-Life Message of the Catholic Church

How is the pro-life message integral to the Gospel and everything that Jesus said and did? Fr. West will proclaim the Gospel of Life and teach on why the Church is so insistent on preaching this message in season and out. The session will also be helpful in describing how we are all called to be active pro-life Catholics.

April 15, with Fr. Lappe

The Eucharist and the Mass

This talk will help you to understand better the gift of the Eucharist—and help you to open up your heart more to receive the graces that Jesus Christ wants to give you through Holy Mass.

April 21, with Rich Maffeo

Searching for God in the Northwest

Some people live a lifetime and come to the end of their journey never having discovered life's real meaning or purpose. They never understand the answer to their deepest longing lay hidden all their years in plain sight for anyone with eyes to see. Rich will describe his own journey and share some insights he's learned along the way.

April 28, with Dr. Tom Curran

Confession:  Five Sentences that Will Change Your Life

Do you run from Confession? If you go to Confession infrequently (e.g. once a year as part of your "Easter duty" or even less frequently than that, maybe only when you commit a "big sin") you probably haven't experienced Confession as an important part of your relationship with God. Many Catholics go to Mass faithfully and try to honor God in how they live, but don't feel the need to go to Confession regularly. Come and learn why confession is so important for your spiritual health.

May 5, with Larry Gottshalk

Introduction to the Old Testament

Larry Gottshalk will be presenting an introduction to the Old Testament.  If you’ve ever had questions about the Old Testament this should be a great class for you. Larry will go through where the Old Testament came from; the destruction of the temple and what this meant to Israel; the formation of the Old Testament Canon; the rabbinical period’s writings and some of the differences between how we interpret and the how the Jews interpret the OT.

May 12, with Kristine Mauss

Authentic Love Through the Eyes of God

This talk is designed to give a general understanding of Pope John Paul II's Theology of the Body. It will no doubt change hearts and open minds to God's incredible plan for salvation stamped right in our very bodies. We address the meaning of life, what it means to be a man or woman, God's plan for salvation and what our bodies have to do with it, the purpose of married and celibate vocations and what love really is.
