From the Kitsap Sun:Denise Agee didn’t let a broken wrist or foot stop her from attending the Birkenfeld Stella Maris (Star of the Sea) House dedication Friday.
“It’s like being pregnant and missing the birth,” she said. “There’s no way I would have missed this.”
Agee, St. Vincent’s assistance office coordinator, broke her wrist and foot Jan. 13 when she fell while waiting for a commercial refrigerator to be delivered to the women’s and children’s shelter in Bremerton. Friday was the first time she had seen the West Bremerton facility since the accident.
The shelter was built by the Our Lady Star of the Sea conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, and supporters were on hand for the opening celebration.
