OLSOS WebsiteIt's been several years now since we updated the look of our website. We invite you to have a look around at all the great new content. We hope this will be a valuable new resource for the parish. It is our hope that not only can you visit this website for information about our parish, but also for relevant, up-to-date, news and information about the parish, cultural news as it applies to Catholic life, recordings of homilies and talks, videos from parish events, etc. So be sure to bookmark our homepage, because you will want to stop by each day to see what's new!

Besides our new website, be sure to check us out on Facebook and Twitter, where you can stay connected to parish and Catholic news, updates from our Parish Blog, and even quotes from the saints!

Overview of the New Website

Homepage

On the homepage you'll find lots of current information, including parish news, upcoming events, recent blog entries, and quick links to pages throughout the site and to external sites, such as the school website, our parish YouTube channel, etc. Our new homepage is designed to have fresh content on a regular basis, so you can check back frequently to see what's new.

Our Parish

Across the top, you'll see a menu bar that will help you navigate throughout the website. Next to "Home" is "Our Parish." The sub-menu links which are under this heading contain information regarding the parish, such as the current Mass Schedule, About Us, Staff Directory, how to Contact Us, and more.

Parish Life

There are so many wonderful events and ministries at Our Lady Star of the Sea, which make this such a vibrant parish to be a part of. Here you'll find information about various ministries and events taking place at the parish, so you can stay connected and get involved. For the first time, we now have a public Parish Calendar, where you can see a full list of upcoming events, Mass Times and more, so at any time you can find out what's going on at OLSOS!

Our Catholic Faith

This section of the website revolves around receiving the sacraments at OLSOS, and growing in the Catholic faith. You'll find information about the Church's teaching on and how to receive the sacraments at Star of the Sea by visiting the Sacraments page.

Our parish has so many ways you can learn about the Catholic faith. There are opportunities each week for you to grow in your faith. That's why we wanted to list many of the ways children, youth, and adults can learn about the faith on a regular basis at our parish.

For those wanting to become Catholic, be sure to check out the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) page!

Parish Media

Many of you have been asking for copies of Fr. Lappe's homilies. Whether you were out of town and missed it, or simply want to hear them again, now you can! Each week you will be able to listen to the most recent Sunday homily on our Homilies page. In addition, look for pictures and videos of parish events, as well as copies of the bulletins, and information on the parish library in Camerman Hall.

Prayer Life

Just another reason to make checking our new website a part of your daily routine is the new "Prayer Life" section. Find everything about Christian prayer from daily Mass readings to prayer devotions here!

Catholic Resources

Last, but not least, is our Catholic Resources section. This is rich with information about the Catholic faith and life, including helpful links to websites, such as The Vatican, USCCB, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, Catholic media such as EWTN, and more!

We hope one of the most helpful pages on this site for you will be the Common Questions page. Whether you are Catholic and looking for the right answers to questions you're pondering or have been asked, or are non-Catholic and wanting to learn about the Catholic faith, this page has answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about Catholicism. It is currently being developed, but we hope soon to have a long list of questions answered, with ways you can find out even more about the subject.

Also under the Catholic Resources heading, you will find the Life Teachings page. Here you can learn more about what the Catholic Church teaches on such issues as abortion, euthanasia, war and the death penalty. In today's world, the influence of the Culture of Death is stronger than it's ever been. That's why it is important for Catholics to have a clear understanding of the Church's teachings on these issues.

Parish Blog

It's true! In addition to being on Facebook and Twitter, OLSOS has now joined the 'blogosphere'! If any of the above reasons weren't enough for you to tune-in regularly, here at StaroftheSea.net, this one is! We hope to have fresh content and commentary about our culture and the Catholic life, as well as updates on parish life right here at our very own blog.

Again, we truly hope you enjoy our new website, that it may be a great new resource for you. That's it for now, but stay tuned for more!
